Diligence is a 30ft traditional commercial fishing boat with plenty of deck space. Skipper Matt has been commercially fishing from Mevagissey all his life and has been doing trips for the last 20 years in the summer season. He has an excellent knowledge of the local waters to help you get on the fish.
'TYPICAL 90 MINUTE MACKEREL TRIP'
On leaving the harbour, Matt will take the Diligence to an area where hopefully the fish will be (usually 10/15 minutes away). He then gives a quick demonstration on how to use the rods. Everyone then gets their own rods and the fun can begin. For those of you who haven't been mackerel fishing before, on the right day, it CAN be easier than you think. At the end of the trip, the fish are bagged up to take back for your supper'

Trips run approximately every two hours (demand and weather permitting). Outside of the 6 week school holiday period, the trips do not operate as much and is dependent upon demand. Each trip lasts for about 90 mins and are £17pp. All the fish you catch, you are more than welcome to take away with you.
Mevagissey bay is exceptionally sheltered from most winds. As long as the wind is not in an easterly direction, trips can operate most days. (We don’t let a bit of rain stop the fun!) Diligence mackerel trips are suitable for all ages and are great fun for all the family and well behaved dogs also welcome. However, we do ask that under 15/16’s are to be accompanied by an adult. The trips are an excellent first fishing experience as well as for the keen angler.
